Frequently Asked Questions

Because businesses achieve more collectively than individually. Kenyan entrepreneurs and professionals across the UK often work in isolation, missing out on referrals, mentorship, funding opportunities and market access that a connected network can unlock. KGBA brings these businesses together to share knowledge, open doors to trade between the UK and Kenya, and build a collective voice that is heard by investors, local authorities and institutions.

KGBA helps people move from economic inactivity into entrepreneurship and employment, particularly within underrepresented groups such as women, young people, disabled entrepreneurs and the wider Black, African and diaspora communities. This creates jobs, improves financial resilience, and strengthens community cohesion - all of which are the core community-benefit purposes of our Community Interest Company status.

KGBA strengthens the UK-Kenya trade and investment corridor, connecting UK-based investors, expertise and market access with Kenyan businesses and entrepreneurs. It supports import and export opportunities, channels mentorship and skills back into Kenya, and encourages the diaspora to reinvest in Kenyan enterprise and communities.

Membership and patronage connect individuals and organisations to a structured, credible platform rather than one-off transactions. It means sustained impact - ongoing mentorship, recurring trade opportunities, and a long-term relationship with a growing network - rather than a single, isolated act of support.

KGBA tracks impact through indicators such as business start-up and survival rates among members, employment and self-employment created, participation of women, youth and disabled entrepreneurs, growth in trade and investment links with Kenya, and the strength of partnerships built with local authorities, educational institutions and funding bodies.

Priority beneficiaries include Kenyan-owned businesses operating in the UK, young entrepreneurs, women in business, disabled entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs, job seekers and aspiring entrepreneurs, importers and exporters, and community and social enterprise organisations across the wider diaspora community.

KGBA combines commercial networking with a formal community-benefit mission as a Community Interest Company. Its focus on inclusion - particularly for women, youth and disabled entrepreneurs - and its dual UK-Kenya remit mean its impact is measured in social outcomes as well as business growth, not business growth alone.

Beyond standard membership, individuals and organisations can become Patrons, sponsor events or programs, mentor members, offer trade or investment partnerships, or collaborate with KGBA on community, education or Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

KGBA Strengthens Community Partnerships at The Ubele Initiative Event

The Kenya Global Business Alliance (KGBA) proudly participated in The Ubele Initiative Community Event, held at Wolves Lane Centre, North London. The event brought together community leaders, social enterprises, charities, and organisations committed to building stronger, more inclusive communities.

Our Founder and CEO, Mary Njonjo, had the privilege of meeting with Yvonne Field OBE, Founder and CEO of The Ubele Initiative, along with her team. Their discussions focused on the importance of collaboration, community empowerment, and creating sustainable opportunities for entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.

KGBA was also proudly represented by Mercy Marua, our Disability Entrepreneurship Programme Coordinator and a talented entrepreneur living with a disability. Her participation reflected KGBA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that people living with disabilities and other disadvantaged members of our communities have equal access to entrepreneurship, business networks, mentorship, and economic opportunities.

At KGBA, we firmly believe that strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships. By collaborating with organisations such as The Ubele Initiative, we can share knowledge, strengthen professional networks, promote diversity and inclusion, and create opportunities for entrepreneurs who may otherwise be left behind.

Community events like these provide an invaluable platform for exchanging ideas, building lasting relationships, and developing initiatives that deliver meaningful social and economic impact. KGBA remains committed to working alongside local authorities, charities, community organisations, and business networks to empower entrepreneurs, support innovation, and strengthen communities across the UK and beyond.

We look forward to building a lasting partnership with The Ubele Initiative and other like-minded organisations that share our vision of creating inclusive, thriving, and resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
